Enrique Peñalosa Londoño is a Colombian politician, former Mayor of the City of Bogota, and a presidential candidate for the Columbia 2014 electoral contest. In 2009, he was elected President of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP). During his tenure as Mayor (1998-2001), the City of Bogotá endured an urban transformation and the implementation of a mass transit project that revolutionized and multiplied the use of public space for democratic means. Peñalosa now advises cities throughout the world, such as Cape Town, Denver, Berkeley, Seattle, Melbourne, and Sao Paulo.
